This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared to support public sector procurement requirements and demonstrate Daydream Designs’ commitment to responsible, low-carbon working practices. The approach outlined is proportionate to the size and nature of the business and aligns with UK public sector expectations for transparency, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
Daydream Designs is committed to reducing its environmental impact and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. As a creative digital agency, our carbon footprint is relatively modest, but we recognise the importance of operating responsibly, making thoughtful choices, and improving where we can.
This plan sets out our current approach and future intentions and is intended to provide clarity for public sector organisations, partners, and clients.
Daydream Designs operates with a predominantly remote and hybrid working model. Our primary sources of carbon emissions include:
• Staff commuting and business travel
• Energy use across office and home working environments
• Digital infrastructure including hosting, cloud services, and devices
• Procurement of equipment and print services
Due to the scale of the business, we do not currently undertake a full formal carbon audit. Instead, we focus on proportionate, practical actions that reduce emissions at source and support continuous improvement.
Our office space is rented from Flintshire County Council, alongside a flexible working model that includes home-based working for part of the team.
This hybrid approach reduces commuting-related emissions while making efficient use of existing public sector buildings rather than maintaining additional dedicated premises.
We operate a largely remote and hybrid working model, which significantly reduces travel-related emissions. Client meetings and
collaboration are conducted online wherever possible to limit unnecessary travel.
• Use of energy-efficient equipment and device settings
• Devices powered down when not in use
• Preference given to suppliers with published environmental or sustainability commitments
• Digital services hosted on servers powered by renewable energy sources
• Hosting providers selected based on efficiency and environmental responsibility
• Websites designed to be lightweight and performant, reducing data transfer and energy use
• Regular review of performance, caching, and asset use to minimise server load
• Clients encouraged to adopt efficient digital practices
• Hardware repaired or upgraded where possible rather than replaced
• Devices reused or recycled responsibly at end of life
• Printing kept to a minimum and only used where necessary
Where print is required, we work with suppliers accredited to recognised quality and environmental standards, including ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. This supports responsible environmental management within the print production process.
Over the next three years, Daydream Designs commits to:
• Continuing to prioritise remote and low-travel working practices
• Reviewing hosting and digital infrastructure to maintain efficiency and sustainability
• Increasing team awareness of low-carbon working behaviours
• Considering formal carbon measurement tools as the business grows
• Supporting clients in making informed, sustainable digital and design choices
Responsibility for carbon reduction sits with the Directors of Daydream Designs. This plan will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant, proportionate, and aligned with public sector expectations.
While our environmental footprint is modest, consistent and practical action matters. Daydream Designs is committed to reducing emissions where possible and supporting organisations that value sustainability, community impact, and long-term thinking.
